Amber Heard is a relative newbie on the Hollywood scene, but that doesn’t mean she’s shying away from showing off her style skills. At last night’s CFDA Fashion Awards, she caught our eye with a stunning ensemble by Cynthia Rowley. We may have had to look her up to see her past work, but after this purple carpet appearance we won’t be forgetting her anytime soon.

“The beach always reminds me of my wedding! After a day of water skiing together (me in a bikini and a veil) and a feast of lobsters and fries, I pulled my husband down to the beach as a plane flew overhead that read ‘You may now kiss the bride.’ They were the perfect nuptials for a couple of beach bums,” says Cynthia Rowley of her favorite beach memory.

Yesterday, Vulture reported that James Franco and his partner in performance art, Kalup Linzy, had provided the soundtrack to Cynthia Rowley’s show at New York Fashion Week — today we bring you the song itself. Mixed by the Misshapes, “I Love You” is a catchy pop-house tune featuring (we think) vocals by both Franco and Linzy. Put another notch on Franco’s ever-more-scratched artistic bedpost.

The feel of ‘backstage’ at a major fashion event was the brainchild of curator Klaus Biesenbach (ushering artist Marina Abramovic), journalist David Colman, and VISONAIRE co-founder Celia Dean. Attendees saw illusionist David Blaine performing, Cynthia Rowley waiting to pour house paint on models, clothes, (and herself), and Terrance Koh performing, among others. Dance classes, photo shoots with Ford models, makeovers “you never knew you wanted” with wigs and exotic makeup, and real-time video delighted all.

Vampires and zombies cruised the halls of MoMA PS1 this weekend. Appropriately timed with Halloween, Visionaire’s Cecilia Dean and journalist, David Coleman, teamed up to organize Move!, a two-day event featuring collaborations in art and fashion. “We had seen some nice art/fashion pairings,” said Coleman, “but we wanted to really push it and make something fun, engaging and interactive.”

Those annoying little taxi TV screens never seem to have anything but gushy restaurant reviews and outdated headlines. But last week (Fashion Week), you might have spotted an intriguing 60-second film featuring ultra-chic girls climbing trees and hiding behind rocks in Central Park, a catchy garage rock tune playing in the background. The video, entitled “Hide and Seek,” marks Cynthia Rowley’s second time experimenting with taxi videos.

Lately, I’ve had an obsession with Cynthia Rowley, and can you really blame me? This skirt is fabulous in more than one way. Instead of tulle on a tutu, Cynthia opted for feathers and to make it even better the feathers are this insanely gorgeous pastel print that reminds me of a sunset over the ocean, right before the sun sinks into the sea, the sky turns indescribably pink with swirls of purple and blue. Somehow she managed to capture that moment and put into what I consider a work of wearable art and I’m so in love.
VOGUE BEFORE FOOD
Last night was a truly dazzling evening for brides-to-be, bridal parties, and those who couldn’t wait to snag a peek at the new Cynthia Rowley bridesmaid collection. The line did not disappoint. There were ballerina-inspired dresses, with gathered tulle bodices and tulle skirts that were just the right amount of full. There were sleek satin gowns and cocktail-length dresses in POP colors, dresses that bright to mind Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
